Kansas City Chiefs WR Rashee Rice Sentenced After High-Speed Crash

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice has officially been sentenced in connection with a high-speed multi-car crash that occurred during the 2024 offseason in Dallas, Texas.

On Tuesday, a Dallas County judge handed down a sentence of five years probation and 30 days of jail time, which may be served intermittently over the course of those five years.

The crash occurred when Rice, driving a Lamborghini, and Theodore Knox, behind the wheel of a Corvette, were reportedly racing down the North Central Expressway. Police stated Rice reached speeds of 119 mph, while Knox was clocked at 91 mph—far exceeding the 70 mph speed limit.

The reckless speed ended in disaster. Rice’s Lamborghini struck the center median, triggering a chain-reaction crash that damaged four other vehicles. Though no fatalities occurred, the incident sparked public outcry and concerns over the accountability of high-profile athletes.

Rashee Rice turned himself in after being charged with multiple counts, including aggravated assault and collision involving serious bodily injury. He later issued a public apology, accepting full responsibility and vowing to rebuild trust.

While Rice’s sentence spares him from extended jail time, it adds pressure to his 2025 season—both on and off the field. With a probation sentence looming over his career, the Chiefs wideout will be walking a fine line as the league and fans continue to watch his next moves closely.
