Terry McLaurin and the Commanders Ink Big—Three-Year, $96M Extension!

🚨 Breaking News: The Washington Commanders and star wide receiver Terry McLaurin have reached an agreement on a three-year contract extension worth up to $96 million, officially silencing a tense offseason holdout.

A Season in Review

McLaurin, a five-time 1,000-yard receiver, delivered one of his best seasons in 2024 — hauling in 82 catches for 1,096 yards and a franchise-record 13 touchdowns. This marked his fifth consecutive 1,000-yard campaign.

Negotiations & Resolution

The road to agreement was rocky. McLaurin skipped the start of training camp, resulting in hefty fines (totaling around $200,000), and ultimately requested a trade. He was then placed on the PUP list before reaching a deal to stay in Washington.

Ultimately, the extension includes a $30 million signing bonus and brings his average annual value (AAV) to approximately $32 million, tying him for sixth-highest paid among NFL wide receivers.

Why It Matters for the Commanders

This deal ensures Jayden Daniels, the promising quarterback, retains his top downfield target heading into the season. His chemistry with McLaurin was pivotal to Washington’s surprising run to the NFC Championship Game last year.

Offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury, alongside new additions like Deebo Samuel and tight end starters, now have a proven playmaker at their disposal.
